Here are my three key tips to give your next article its best chance.

1. Keep it short. Articles between 250 and 600 words are much more likely to be picked up by e-zine editors and given wide distribution. This size suits the short, snappy style of the most successful e-zines because they know that what their readers want is quick, easy to absorb information, presented in neat sound-bites.
2. Be an expert. Make sure that your articles really do present useful information. The best reason for someone to click the link in your resource box is because they have found something useful in your article. That way, even before they reach your site, hey have gained respect for you as someone who knows what they are talking about and they want to find out what else you can offer them.
3. Be a friend too. As well as presenting you as an expert, the final job of your article is to build rapport with your readers. The tone of your articles should be upbeat and they should be in everyday, conversational language. By the time they have finished reading, your audience should feel relaxed in your company and comfortable with your style.

Follow these three steps and your articles will be great ambassadors for you and your work as they journey round the internet, sending enthusiastic and well qualified visitors back to your website.
