Bedroom Paint Inspiration
Published by admin | Filed under Advice
The bedroom is one room where you can truly express your own sense of colour and style. This is a place where you can let go and try new things as it is a private room. Personal taste is the order of the day and no one colour is best. Some will simply prefer soft and tranquil colours while others will go for rich, deep accent colours.
When designing our dream bedrooms we often think about style and furniture first. We want to create a theme and provide a consistent look. This can only be achieved by using paint colours that match our theme/style.
In this article we will explore different bedroom styles and suggest good matching paint colours.
Japanese Bedroom Designs
The Japanese approach to bedroom design is modern and minimalistic. They often use neutral paint colours such as white and cream and are offset by strong wood floor colours and furniture. The Japanese look can be great however it is often difficult to get right.
Ultra Modern Bedroom Design
Ultra modern bedrooms are the must have look for 2010 and are both minimalistic in nature and bold. Decorators can either use soft neutral whites or very strong pastel colours here. Grey aqua marine is often a popular paint colour here. These designs are often very ambitious and therefore meticulous planning must be done before beginning.
Mediterranean Bedroom Design
The Mediterranean bedroom is cool and tranquil and as welcoming for afternoon siestas as it is at night. These types of bedrooms often make use of rustic furniture styles and bright wall tones work best here. Mediterranean orange or terracotta is the paint colour of choice.
Floral Guest Bedroom Design
If you're lucky enough to have a guest room then you will want to provide a comfortable and warm environment for your guests. Most people tend to opt for wallpaper in these rooms however soft neutral creams, greens and lilacs can work well. These colours will need to be matched with soft coloured carpeting and curtains. The focus of the room can then be on the floral designs.
Parisian Styling Bedroom Design
Parisian styled bedroom designs rely heavily on the furniture and the detail within them. They make strong uses of curves and soft furnishings. Light paint colours are ideal for these rooms. For example very subtle yellows can work well.
Cozy Bedroom Design
We all love to snuggle up in bed and wrap up warm and what better way to do this than with a cozy bedroom design. This can be achieved using thick soft furnishings, light wall colours and thick carpeting. It is one of the easiest styles to create and is a timeless classic. It will look great regardless of what year it is. These types of rooms are also easy to maintain.
These are some of the most common types of bedroom styles and some will require more work than others. Before you go with your chosen paint colour you should test it. Look at how it works under different lights and make sure your colour fits with your furniture and bedroom style. Most of all have fun.
