Schools of Herbology and Botanical Medicine

“…today’s herbal medicine programs are individually gauged to reach broader levels of both personal and professional academic levels. ”
Meeting the educational demands of those seeking to become natural healers, schools of herbology do more than just teach home remedies. A matter of fact, today’s herbal medicine programs are individually gauged to reach broader levels of both personal and professional academic levels.
If you are like many naturalists, you may be primarily interested in attaining a basic or introductory course in family herbalism; which is commonly offered at schools of herbology. In this program of study, students learn herbal medicine history, herbal materia medica, stress and anxiety herbal remedies, home remedies for common ailments, herbal beauty recipes, nutrition with herbs, herbal formulation and therapeutics, among others.
Schools of herbology also offer in-depth certification and/or degree programs in herbal sciences. These courses may take up to two years to complete, but are quite comprehensive in nature. In addition to learning materia medica, students are taught to recognize over 500 herbs and plant medicines, clinical diagnosis and health maintenance/treatment, herbology practice, holistic nutritional consulting, and more.
Though some schools of herbology focus solely on Western herbal medicine, some natural health schools provide extensive Eastern botanical medicine studies. In addition to Chinese herbal medicine training, other educational opportunities exist within naturopathic institutions, as well as homeopathic schools.
Before applying to any one of the various schools of herbology, explore your training options as many botanical medicine courses are not only offered on-campus, but through distance-learning programs as well.
If you (or someone you know) are interested in learning more about these or other natural health programs, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, naturopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore schools of herbology near you.
