What are Universities doing with tens of thousands of Branded USB Memory Sticks

They get it. Universities understand that USB Memory sticks are an ideal vehicle to communicate with prospective students at Freshers Fairs and to provide them a tangible reminder of the university and all it has to offer.

Whilst this is not the only reason UK Universities have ordered thousands and thousands of USB Memory sticks it is one of the prime motivators.

Lets face it when you go to a Freshers Fair youll typically come away laden down with a small forests worth of information, much of it printed on high quality paper at great expense to the university and to the environment. Are these necessary, will they all be read or will most end up in the bin (hopefully a re-cycling bin)

A USB Memory stick wont necessarily get rid of all the brochures, forms, flyers and other documentation but it has the potential to reduce significantly the amount of printed material and waste.

Additionally by pre-loading the USB Memory stick with slide shows, music, arts performances, videos, embedded links to web sites etc you can offer so much more and because its not all being printed it can be offered to a wider audience for less cost (thats even allowing for the costs of the USB Memory stick itself).

The university does not have to worry about loading the data onto the Memory Stick either. Typically data is loaded onto the memory stick at the point of manufacture (because its cheaper) but, if, as is often the case with Freshers Fairs,the information is not ready until the last minute the data can be bulk loaded in the UK using the services of UK based “data loading” specialists.

Combine these benefits with the ability to print the university logo, crest. Motto and other key messages on the USB Memory sticks and you can see why Universities are increasingly embracing USB Memory Sticks.

Of course once the prospective student has reviewed the information loaded onto the USB stick the data can be erased (assuming the university has not protected the data from deletion).The student can then use the memorystick to save their coursework onto.

Branded USB Memory Sticks loaded with data are not only a great way for a university to promote itself but unlike its paper counterparts a USB Memory stickprovides value waybeyond the Freshers Fair.
