Weight Loss & Motivation – How Conflicting Thoughts in Your Head Make Your Motivation Come and Go | ArticlesBase.com

Published by admin | Filed under Education

You might be feeling frustrated by your lack of motivation or your inability to hold onto motivation when your goal is to lose weight. It is important for you to understand where motivation comes from and how you create it (and destroy it) using your thoughts. This article will give you a new perspective on the relationship between weight loss and motivation.

So where do your thoughts take you? Are they making you feel motivated or unmotivated? Chances are you have both types of thoughts inside your head on any given day. It is the one you give more focus to that will determine your actions.

Let's look a common conflicting thoughts that enters the mind of many dieters. You might think, “I really, really want to lose weight because I am sick of feeling so bad about myself.” This thought comes with a lot of emotion. But at the same time this thought might exist in your head, “I really, really love the freedom of eating whatever I want at night, I would feel so bad if I had to give that up.” This thought also comes with a lot of emotion.

Can you see how one thought motivates you to lose weight while the other cancels out that motivation? This leads to indecision and you tend to do nothing different than the day before, you are left feeling frustrated.

The solution? To keep your motivation on the upswing you must focus on the thought that inspires you to positive actions and “let go of” the thought that keeps you stagnated. This is a challenge if you have not paid much attention to your thoughts in the past but it is a challenge worth taking because it will be the skill that allows you to break free of your old destructive patterns for good.

Weight loss and motivation are intertwined and your continued motivation depends on your ability to focus on the thoughts that lead you to action.
